Personalized Lifestyle Medicine Institute Conference

In April I attended Dr. Jeffrey Bland’s Personalized Lifestyle Medicine Institute conference in Chicago. This annual event is always held in the Chicagoland area, which is a fortunate convenience as it saves me from traveling far. The Personalized Lifestyle Medicine Institute’s vision encompasses building a community around dynamic collaborations, compelling dialogues, evidence-based information and resources, and immersive educational events.

Dr. Bland, known as the father of functional medicine, led this event. This year’s theme was “Endocrine Typing: Connecting the Dots Between Toxin Load, Weight Loss Resistance, and Hormonal Dysfunction.” We delved into how hormones, body weight, and metabolism are interconnected with our diet, lifestyle, and exposure to toxins.

This topic is critical as obesity is a growing epidemic, and many of my patients struggle with hormone issues and weight problems. The insights gained from this conference provide an additional novel approach to addressing these common issues.

I had the pleasure of attending this event with my chiropractic colleagues Drs. Alan Broering and Dave Menner of Menner Chiropractic. Dr. Alan and I went to chiropractic school together, and we enjoyed learning side-by-side.

The discussions at the conference revolved around the intricate connections between our endocrine system and various factors such as diet and environmental toxins. Understanding these connections is crucial in addressing issues related to weight loss resistance and hormonal dysfunction, which are common concerns among my patients.

Dr. Bland’s expertise and the collective knowledge shared at this event were invaluable. The Personalized Lifestyle Medicine Institute conference continues to be a pivotal learning experience for me, offering cutting-edge insights that I can directly apply in my practice to help my patients achieve better health outcomes.

Attending this conference with my trusted colleagues made the experience even more enriching, and I look forward to implementing the knowledge gained to support my patients in their health journeys.
